Local business gives children's hospice appeal a boost
May 2009
Crewe based self storage business; Storage Boost is showing its support for local charity, Donna Louise Children's Hospice.
At the end of January, the charity which cares for life threatened children and their families, closed its doors 2 nights a week in a bid to cut costs at a time when donations are dropping as a result of the economic slowdown. In an attempt to counter act this downturn, the charity launched an SOS Appeal, calling on people across Staffordshire and South Cheshire to help them raise much needed funds to avoid further cutbacks.
Storage Boost which provides secure self storage for homes and businesses in South Cheshire and Staffordshire, has responded to the charity's call to action by providing much needed services at no cost to the hospice.
Nick Wood Director of Storage Boost says "It is a great pleasure to support a fantastic local charity like the Donna Louise Trust with our award winning self storage services. We find our secure easy access document storage services really help organisations lower the costs of expensive office space, in the case of the Donna Louise Trust enable them to use their precious space more effectively".
Melanie Mills, Head of Fundraising and PR for the charity said, "We are grateful to Storage Boost for their support. They are setting an example for local businesses by providing services to the charity that otherwise we would have to pay for. Gfting of services such as these allows us to plough donated income into our care services that we otherwise would have to use to pay bills. We hope other companies will follow the lead set by Storage Boost. If your company is able to provide services to us free of charge or can cover the cost of utility bills for example, we would love to hear from you.
We rely on the generosity of the public to raise the £2 million that we need each year. Your support enables us to provide emergency respite to support families during difficult times, sensitive medical and nursing support to provide end of life care, counselling for children and families at any stage of the child's illness, as well as bereavement support and specialist play and music therapy."
"You can support the SOS Appeal in a number of ways. You can make a donation in person, via cheque or online, you can hold a fundraising event such as a coffee and cake morning or dress down day. We have lots of fun ways to raise money so call the fundraising team for your pack of ideas. We want you all to make a lot of noise about the wonderful work of The Donna Louise Children's Hospice, so wear an SOS Appeal button badge and spread the word! Button badges are available at various locations across the region including The Potteries Shopping Centre, The Sentinel, Stoke City FC shops at Britannia Stadium and Hanley, Port Vale FC, The Holiday Inn Junction 15, Greens Gym in Trentham, Barlaston Golf Club and many others, or you can pick one up at The Donna Louise Children's Hospice, 1 Grace Road, Trentham."
